FIXATE

MIRROR PERSPEX, PERSPEX,
FROSTED GLASS, ARCHITECTURAL CUT
& LIVE VIDEO PROJECTION

CURATED BY KATE RHODES

AUSTRALIA

In fixate I cut a hole out of the gallery wall, mounted an optical illusion
view box over the hole and placed a live camera feed in the wall.
The overall affect was that inside the gallery the viewer could
see two virtual views of the same outside scene, one in the view box,
the other a live video projection.

PROJECTION, PAINT, PERSPEX

In ‘SENSE OF’ large and small optical view boxes (containing angled mirrors), and live-video projections were strategically placed to set up multiple views of the same subject from a single standpoint. As viewers’ negotiated the view boxes ‘impossible’ scenes were revealed.

MASTERS SHOWING

SPATIAL INSTALLATION WITH MIRROR,
WOOD, LIVE-VIDEO PROJECTION,

In this work I utilised the existing rectangular hallway to create a circuitry line of vision using mirrors, view boxes and live projections. Participants were able to have many views of themselves and others. The difference between real and virtual planes was hard to distinguish.
