SPATIAL INSTALLATION WITH GLASS, MIRROR, WOOD,
LIVE-VIDEO PROJECTION, PAINT, STEEL

GERTRUDE CONTEMPORARY ART SPACES
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA

‘HERE’ was a walk-through installation piece which used optical illusion
techniques with mirrors, glass and live video projection to confuse ‘real’
and ‘virtual’ planes for participant viewers. All the materials used in the
work were based on the gallery’s existing materials, i.e. floorboards,
white walls, glass etc.

STAINLESS STEEL, STEEL, GLASS,
MIRROR, MARINE PLY, PAINT & PERSPEX TUBING

BOILER HOUSE
SCIENCEWORKS MUSEUM,
SPOTSWOOD,
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA

The Boiler House Look-Box is a walkthrough sculpture;
a contemporary response to the original boilers (still standing) in Melbourne’s old pumping station. Inside the work, from a single standpoint multiple views are made possible through the use of periscope optics at the end of perspex tubes.

FLOORLOOKER

WOOD, PAINT, MIRROR

GERTRUDE CONTEMPORARY ART SPACES
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA

In ‘FLOORLOOKER’, I built a structure to mimic the existing architecture
and fixed it to the gallery wall. Inside the architectural addition I placed an
angled mirror so that the floor became a ‘real-time’ image on a vertical,
as opposed to horizontal plane. Participants could stand inside the
structure for an upturned view of the gallery space.
